What is the Poetry Library?

           "The most comprehensive and accessible collection of poetry from 1912 in Britain

            It is the major library for modern and contemporary poetry funded by the Arts Council England

            Poetry is available in many formats: books, pamphlets, audio cassette, cd, video for reference and loan; magazines, press cuttings, photographs, posters and postcards for reference. Work available via the World Wide Web is also accessible at the Poetry Library

                The Poetry Library is the home of poetrymagazines.org.uk, the new and growing full-text database for UK poetry magazines of the 20th and 21st centuries

                There are comprehensive education and children's sections

                The Poetry Library promotes the reading of poetry for people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds in collaboration with Learning and Participation"

What is The Scottish Poetry Library?

"The Scottish Poetry Library is the place for poetry in Scotland, for the regular reader, the serious student or the casual browser.

Since its foundation in 1984 it has amassed a remarkable collection of written works, as well as tapes and videos. The emphasis is on contemporary poetry written in Scotland, in Scots, Gaelic and English, but historic Scottish poetry and contemporary works from almost every part of the world feature too."

What is Other Poetry?

Other Poetry was founded over twenty years ago, and published continuously throughout the 1980s. After a five-year break, it was revived in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1995, and has been publishing, at the rate of three issues a year, ever since.
